Here are a few things you should know. \n\n\n\n\nThe venue is the Gym at Granite Bay High School at 1 Grizzly Way\, Granite Bay\, CA 95746.\n\n\n\nWe will have a concession stand with pizza\, snacks\, fruit\, drinks\, cookies\, (muffins and coffee/tea in the morning) but please feel free to bring your own food if you wish.\n\n\n\nIf you are having friends or family come\, please let them know there is a $10 spectator fee if you pre-purchase\, or a $15 spectator fee at the door\, so they are not surprised. Spectators will have in and out privileges. Don’t buy spectator tickets for competitors as their registration will allow them to compete and spectate all day.\n\n\n\nThere will be a FREE Bounce House!\n\n\n\nDon’t miss the Master’s Demo around noon!\n\n\n\nYou must have your own board holders for board breaking divisions\, so they know how you want the boards held\, etc. Purchase boards ($5/each) prior to or at the event for the Board Breaking division (2 stations max) …as many boards as you want… Board size options are thin\, medium and thick. You can pre-purchase them to save time. \n\n\n\nWe are raffling off an Ipad at the event\, so make sure to purchase raffle tickets!\n\n\n\nPlease consult the check in times for each division. If a Tiger is doing a full Taeguk form they should enter in kids 8 and under traditional form division. Judging Criteria: Overall technique and presentation. All judges will judge overall. \n\n\n\nTaekwondo Tigers Board Breaking – Taekwondo Tigers 6 and under can do any creative 2 station board breaking. Judging Criteria: Overall technique and presentation. All judges will judge overall. \n\n\n\nTaekwondo Tigers Sparring – Point sparring rules. Kick or punch to body = 1 point\, spin kick = 2pts\, kick to head = 3 pts. No hands to the head.Tigers Rapid Kick Contest – Competitors are to kick as many times as they can in 15 seconds and the highest number wins. In case of tie\, it is settled with rock\, paper\, scissors. White-Green Belts kick with a front kick\, Purple Belts and above compete with a round kick. See video below. \n\n\n\nMODIFIED DIVISION \n\n\n\nModified Division – Color Belt or Black Belt of any age that wish to have concessions for physical or development challenges should register for this division. Competitors may do any form\, self defense or weapons form in this division. Competitor may have assistance from a partner or instructor for their performance.Judging Criteria- Best overall presentation. All judges judge overall. \n\n\n\nALL DIVISIONS \n\n\n\nTraditional Individual Form – Color belts and Black Belts are to perform Taeguk/Kukkiwon forms. 2 competitors will compete against another competitor at the same time. The judges will point in the direction of the best form. Judging Criteria: Best overall form. See video below \n\n\n\nSparring – Point sparring rules. Kick or punch to body= 1 point\, spin kick = 2pts\, kick to head = 3 pts. No hands to the head. \n\n\n\nBoard Breaking – Maximum 2 stations. Two attempts to break per station. Boards must be purchased ($5) at the event or online in checkout page. Competitor can select board size. All competitors must have their own designated holders. Any technique may be used to break stations except for head breaks.Judging Criteria: Overall technique and presentation. If completed on single attempt and level of difficulty as well as creativity. \n\n\n\nRapid Kick Contest – Competitors are to kick as many times as they can in 15 seconds and the highest number wins. In case of tie\, it is settled with rock\, paper\, scissors. White through Green Belts kick with a front kick\, Purple (Blue) Belts and above compete with a round kick. See video below. \n\n\n\nPower Meter Division – Power meter will be used to measure most powerful technique. Competitor will get three attempts to strike the bag with any competitor’s technique of choice. Competitor can do the same technique each time or change technique. Highest reading of the 3 attempts will be the competitor’s final score.Judging Criteria: Highest reading by strike meter out of 3 tries is the final number. \n\n\n\nTraditional Family Forms – Color belt and Black Belt Families can perform any Taeguk form of their choice . Color belts competitors will compete against other color belt families. Black Belt will go against other Black Belt families. If you’re family has a mix of both color belts and black belts\, have everyone register under the black belt family division. (NOTE: Teams with both color belts and blacks will not receive points towards national championship.) The judges will point in the direction of the best form after each two family groups have competed until winner is selected. No limit on how many family members per team. When registering\, register each family member as each will get a medal. Judging Criteria: Overall synchronization\, power and performance. \n\n\n\nPair Forms (Poomsae) – Team of 2. Any gender mix. Any belt mix (for black belt division they must all be recommended or above). All team members must be ages 17 and under or 18 and above. Judges criteria: Synchronization\, technique and power. Reminder that all members should register individually for the pair poomsae division as both players will be getting medals. \n\n\n\nWeapon –Weapons division is open forms. Judges Criteria: Handling and control of weapon and overall presentation.  \n\n\n\nContinuous Sparring. Same as point sparring points (3 for head shots\, 2 for spin kicks to body and 1 for kick or punch to body) except players are not stopped after scoring a point. They spar continuously with the judges capturing their points continuously. 2 rounds of 1 minute and 30 seconds. They can do anything they are comfortable doing including doing the competition with their instructor. They can do weapons\, forms\, board breaking\, pretty much whatever you want them to do.\n\n\n\nPre-purchased Spectator fee is $10 and kids under 4 are free. $15 at the door.\n\n\n\nThere will be only 4 competitors (an exception may apply) for all color belt divisions.\n\n\n\nRemind those that are doing board breaking to have their own holders.\n\n\n\nRemind your students the check in times are just that… check in not competition times. It Offers free breakfast and has an outdoor pool. It Is 10 minutes from the venue and LMTKD. \n\n\n\nWhat is Hybrid Sparring?\n\n\n\nHybrid Sparring is a fun event we are adding to our agenda for this tournament. It is simply point sparring contact with Olympic sparring style of continuous motion\, combining the two for the advantage of both.  We have three judges walking on the edges of the ring with clickers in their hands\, They score the points that make SOLID contact with the same values as point fighting.  No break is called. The fighters continue to work for 1:30 minutes. a 30 sec break is called and fighters get a chance to speak to their coaches\, then a second round plays for 1:30 minutes.  Coaches are allowed to speak during the match from their box. Points are recorded for reference and each round is called to the superior fighter.  Two rounds which go to opposite victors create a third round.  Scoring points is the same value as in point sparring\, 1 point for body shots\, 2 points for spinning body shots\, three points for head shots. Combinations of feet and hands can be scored for 1 extra point.  Combinations of feet and feet score to the superior technique\, multiple punches score 1 point. Mutual contact is not scorable.  It must be a clear technique ahead of the answering block or attack.  Moderate contact to head\, and if a novice is making a contact to head which is very light or with no contact\, with no attempt to block from the defender -it is scored 3 points\, based on the opinion of the judge. Out of bounds fighter cannot score but can be scored upon. Center ref will call back to inside of ring after 3 sec. Pushing the opponent is not allowed but pushing off from the opponent is allowed. Fighters must actively attack within 5 seconds\, continuously running from attack is a penalty point. Grabbing is a penalty point. Low kicks is a penalty. The referee is not scoring. His concentration is on safety\, penalties\, and timing in the ring. Penalties will result in a point being awarded to the opposing player on each of the judges clickers. DQ for usual reasons 1 warning allowed 1 penalty point\, 1 DQ. Awarding the round will be based on the median score of the three judges for each person. \n\n\n\nExample: – Red scores 4 and 5. And 7. The score is 5– Blue scores 6 11 and 7 the score is 7Blue wins the round. (Blue was also superior in 2 judges scores) \n\n\n\nWe have scenarios to practice for this on Friday evening 6:00 at the judging class for all interested parties. \n\n\n\nHybrid sparring will be a free event to be staged and played after the regular tournament events.  Regular sparring gear will be required for this first time event. Future events will allow Olympic feet and hands if both players have the same equipment. Advantages: faster motion\, flow of a training match.  fighters can set up a superior technique with a combo. Any rank\, any age\, any weight\, can challenge themselves without fear of injury\, corner refs are free to move for a view\, coaching by one person with an objective view involves the parents to be coaches (additional fees)\, supporter at the edge of the ring for congratulations. center ref concentrated on ring management; scores are not announced (Humility) but recorded for learning.

In case of tie\, it is settled with rock\, paper\, scissors. White-Green Belts kick with a front kick\, Purple Belts and above compete with a round kick. \n\n\n\nMODIFIED DIVISION \n\n\n\nModified Division – Color Belt or Black Belt of any age that wish to have concessions for physical or developmental challenges should register for this division. Competitors may do any form\, self-defense\, or weapons form in this division. Competitor may have assistance from a partner or instructor for their performance. \n\n\n\nJudging Criteria– Best overall presentation. All judges judge overall. \n\n\n\nALL DIVISIONS \n\n\n\nTraditional Individual Form – Color belts and Black Belts are to perform Taeguk / Kukkiwon forms. 2 competitors will compete against another competitor at the same time. The judges will point in the direction of the best form.  \n\n\n\nJudging Criteria: Best overall form. \n\n\n\nSparring –  \n\n\n\nPoint sparring rules: \n\n\n\nKick or punch to body = 1 pointSpin kick = 2 ptsKick to head = 3 ptsNo hands to the head\n\n\n\nBoard Breaking – Maximum 2 stations. For Pair and Team you may mix age\, gender and rank (including colors and black belt mix).  \n\n\n\nMust be under 1 minute \n\n\n\nMusic is allowed.  \n\n\n\nJudging criteria: overall presentation. \n\n\n\nVIDEO DESCRIPTION \n\n\n\nPower Side Kick – Must designate the number of boards to be attempted to judge prior to competition starting. Single attempt then it goes to next competitor. No changes to board designation allowed after declaration.
